Star
Wars has been a lifelong obsession, so the Star Wars
based computer was an inevitibility. Return
of the Jedi gave us not only the walking teddy bears
known as Ewoks,
but we also watched the high speed speeder
bike chase. The Imperial
Scout Trooper was the inspiration for the latest computer.
We began with the Rubies
Scout
Trooper helmet.
A metal stand was welded to the screws used
to hinge the front of the mask. The T-bar was wrapped in
foam in preparation for the motherboard, since the metal
pins on the motherboard may short out if they make contact
with metal.
The "air filter" on the front of
the mask was cut off so the power swtich could be placed
there. The switch itself and the removed piece were wrapped
and filled respectively with sculpey.
After the sculpey was hardened, the button
was glued into place, and the "air filter" was
glued to the tip of the button.
